During the “Edible Garden” event in New York, some of the most talented and creative chefs in the world will show you why they use the freshest and best ingredients to make their products stand above the rest. Celebrity chefs, Michael Psilakis, Todd English, and Mario Batali will show you how to grow your own vegetables, herbs and fruits for the season so you can have the most healthy and delicious meals. Now it is definitely not as easy as going to the local grocery store, but if you are dedicated to taking this step, you will see how accomplished you feel after you’ve done something that most people cannot.
What good are all these incredible ingredients if you have no incredible recipes to go with them? That is where the chefs come in. They are all masters in their own cuisines and can show you the hundreds of easy ways to prepare fast, eco-friendly, and delicious meals. Imagine growing and cooking restaurant quality meals without ever leaving your house. You are not only helping the environment, but most of all helping yourself. You can make this entire process viral by doing it yourself and showing people that even they can do it. Every time you avoid the supermarket and get greens from your own garden, you just stopped the production of vegetables filled with chemicals induced by machines devouring oil.

October 17 – Sophistication is what restaurateur Todd English is all about. He will take you through classy cooking that you can do in your own home.
The beauty of all of this is these are to enrich your life with culture and knowledge. Take these opportunities to be creative by expanding your knowledge on both foods and the environment alike. Grow a garden and get your children involved. Give them the responsibility to water and maintain the plants and watch their smiles grow every time they see the plant grow. Take advantage of the Edible Garden and you will only get positive information and hopefully it will reinforce why we need to take action on all fronts to create a sustainable environment.

Eco-fashion is not really fashion- at least that’s probably what most of us think. When we go to bed, we want to have a sound rest. This can be made even better by using bedding that is sustainably made. Synthetic materials, such as polyester, are very common. These are made from nonrenewable chemicals rather than all-natural products that can be grown. There are also some health issues that may arise from the VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in these materials.

It may be shocking, but the greatest source of pollution isn’t our cars, it is our homes. Several of the things we use daily require lots of electricity. Fortunately, there are ways to curb the amount of electricity that we use so the pollution is lessened. Using energy efficient appliances is one way to accomplish this.
