Dirty clothes strewn about your room will undoubtedly give the impression of a messy room. You should have a clothes hamper sufficient in size to hold all of your dirty laundry. The size and number of hampers depends on the individual and the space available in the room. If you are the type of individual who has different classes of clothes, workout clothes, casual clothes, and your business attire, then it may be beneficial to you to have multiple hampers. This will make sorting much easier when it comes time to do your laundry.
Clean clothes lying about can look just as messy as dirty clothes. You need to organize your closet and dresser in a manner that will keep all of your items in an easy to find fashion. You first need to empty out your closet and dresser. Remove and donate items that don’t fit and that you do not wear anymore. If you have more clothes than you have room for, sort them by season and put the out of season clothes in a storage bin. Rotate your clothes as the seasons change.
You also need to organize your books and magazines. There is nothing wrong with having these items in your bedroom. However, you must take steps to keep them organized on a bookshelf or magazine rack. This will make them more accessible as well as give the impression of a tidy room.
If your bedroom doubles as an office, make sure to keep the area around your work station clean and clutter free.
Get in the habit of making your bed each morning. It does not take that much time and there really is no excuse to not make your bed. Make sure to wash all bedding items – sheets, pillow covers, etc – at least weekly.
Follow these simple tips and you will soon spend less time having to clean your bedroom. It becomes a simple maintenance that is less frustrating because you took the time to become better organized.
